Fatuma Doka, CRNP
Doka is a nurse practitioner and the founder of Tender Grassroots, a non-profit
organization based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. With over 40 years of experience in
healthcare, she has dedicated her career to serving underserved communities with
compassion and expertise.
Born in Uganda, Doka relocated to the United States in 1989. Her organization, Tender
Grassroots, focuses on empowering Ugandan communities by providing resources,
knowledge, and skills to break the cycle of poverty. Through partnerships with
institutions, organizations, and local communities, the non-profit fosters global health
collaborations and drives sustainable development.
In addition to her work with Tender Grassroots, Doka serves as a nurse practitioner at
Jefferson University Hospital, where she provides direct patient care, engages in
education and research, and contributes as part of the global health team. She is also
involved in community outreach initiatives, including cancer screenings for underserved
populations, and actively participates in various committees aimed at advancing
healthcare access and equity.
