Congratulations to Xavier Becerra for being sworn in as Secretary of Health and Human Services

Secretary Xavier Becerra and his wife, Dr. Carolina Reyes, a perinatologist.

The HER Foundation congratulates Secretary Xavier Becerra who was sworn in as the head of Health and Human Services. Secretary Becerra has been a friend to the HER Foundation since his days as a Representative from California when he and Dr. Dave Weldon, Representative from Florida, sponsored our 2005 Congressional Briefing on Capitol Hill!

On September 29th, 2005, the HER Foundation was invited to conduct a briefing about HG on Capitol Hill in Washington DC. A briefing is an opportunity to present information related to your cause to members of congress. Others in attendance include lobbyists and HER Foundation supporters.

Mr. Becerra spoke about HG and became interested after speaking with his wife who is a practicing perinatologist. Many of those on our advisory board and a few dedicated members, as well as others who have been dramatically impacted by HG spoke about the impact of HG. The theme was focused on the many losses of HG and the need for research funding, as well as the message that there is hope.

Even if you were unable to attend, you can still help by contacting your congressional members to increase awareness, and assist us in acquiring funds for our collaborative research projects with the University of Southern California (USC in LA). See more in our Mission & Goals

Following are some of the speeches and presentations given

  • Poster Presentation on the Impact of HG (200 Kb PDF)
  • Ann Marie & Jeremy King’s Speech
  • Kimber MacGibbon’s Speech (96 Kb PDF)
  • Andrea Taylor Speech (68 Kb PDF)
  • Aimee Brecht-Doscher (28 Kb PDF)
  • Marlena Fejzo Speech (52 Kb PDF)

Beginning as a website about hyperemesis gravidarum until today, the Hyperemesis Education and Research Foundation has grown into the leader of the global HG movement.
