The HER Foundation launches 1 MOM is 2 Many

The HER Foundation is launching 1 MOM is 2 Many, a collaborative campaign, to drive effective maternal health standards forward and prevent adverse outcomes as a result of Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG).

Pregnant women suffering with hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) and related complications are too often deprived of respectful, appropriate, effective care and deserve a chance at a healthy future. Maria and her twins died of preventable complications of HG and inspired this campaign. We must tell her story because her voice must be heard. 1 MOM is 2 Many works to eradicate preventable maternal and fetal morbidities and mortality as a result of HG by amplifying women’s voices, educating about complications, and advocating for change.

HER is the leader in developing evidence-based tools and conducting groundbreaking, clinically relevant research. Since 2000, we have published studies on the neurodevelopmental issues faced by offspring, discovered genetic contributors to HG, and developed the largest, detailed HG registry in the world.

Yet since 2000, there have been too few changes in treatment, no standard assessments adopted, and HG is often dismissed as a psychosocial condition. Additionally, maternal health outcomes are worse for Women of Color, minorities, and low income women. We still see unwanted terminations, maternal deaths, and preventable, severe fetal and maternal morbidities.

We need your help to give all moms and babies a chance at a healthy future. HG predisposes women to so many complications that may be prevented with effective treatment. Together we can ignite progress through education, collaborative advocacy, and the amplification of women’s voices.
