Andrew Housholder, MD, FACEP
Dr. Andrew Housholder, MD, FACEP, is a distinguished emergency physician having worked in hospital systems across AL, FL, CO, NC, Qatar, Honduras and Kenya for the past 15 years. Dr. Housholder has worked as an emergency medicine physician in the US military as well as high acuity academic centers and rural community hospitals. During Dr. Housholder’s service in the US Air Force, he was awarded the Air Force Achievement Medal for his deployment with Special Operations Central Command, Mobile Forward Surgical Team.
Dr. Housholder is renowned for his specialization in managing severe nausea and vomiting during pregnancy and Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG). He and his wife Kelly Housholder opened the first clinic in the US to focus solely on treating and researching HG. This pilot clinic, The HG & Morning Sickness Clinic, is located in Birmingham, Alabama. Through their dedicated efforts, Dr. Housholder and his team of highly experienced nurses provide compassionate evidenced based care to pregnancies suffering from nausea and vomiting.

Dr. Housholder’s clinical leadership and advocacy for improved treatment modalities of HG exemplify his dedication to maternal health. His current research includes pathways for prevention of HG, working with pharmaceutical companies to design clinical trials of possible treatment medications, and the relationship between anemia/iron deficiency and HG severity. Dr. Housholder consults with Harmonia Healthcare, NGM Biopharmaceuticals, and the HER Foundation. In his free time, he has 3 children and loves the outdoors, cooking, running, and reading.
