SUMMARY:Seeking all artists who have had Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG)
DESCRIPTION:CALL FOR ARTISTS!\nSeeking artists who have had hyperemesis gravidarum (HG) or other pregnancy illnesses and are creating work about their experiences for a group exhibit at dnj Gallery\, Santa Monica\, CA.\nArtists: Visual art\, writers\, etc. \nSUBMISSION DIRECTIONS:\nTo submit your work\, send 1–3 images of your work along with an artist statement* and a bio** to office@dnjgallery.net. \nSubmission Deadline: July 2nd\, 2025\nWork must be sent by September 2nd\, 2025 to dnj Gallery.  \n“The Curse of the Blessing” Exhibition\nSeptember 21st – November 29th\, 2025 \ndnj Gallery and ArtandMed \n*An artist statement is a concise\, often personal\, piece of writing that helps viewers understand the artist’s creative process\, intentions\, and the meaning behind their work. It’s essentially a short introduction to an artist’s work\, explaining why they create (definitely in relation to HG)\, what they’re trying to say\, and what they hope the viewer will take away. State why you’re making art  – to deal with the symptoms of HG. Explaining your thoughts about all your work\, not one piece. \n** Bio is a concise account of an artist’s life and career\, often used to introduce them to audiences. It’s a narrative that highlights their artistic journey\, background\, and accomplishments. \n  \nPhotography by Clare Hughes \n  \n

SUMMARY:HG Awareness Month
DESCRIPTION:May is Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG)* Awareness Month\, and the HER Foundation is celebrating 25 years of progress as we aim to support mothers\, improve treatment for this serious condition\, and eradicate HG. \n25 years of progress\nWe’re celebrating HG Progress: the powerful strides we’ve made in understanding\, treating\, and supporting those facing hyperemesis gravidarum. From expanding access to HG-informed care and launching new global research collaborations to strengthening our advocacy impact and growing community support networks\, we are seeing real change. \nProgress is happening\, and it’s just the beginning. \nWe can’t do it without you – This year marks 25 years of progress and hope\, thanks to our supporters. We’re aiming to raise $25\,000 this month to supercharge our impact. Join us by contributing at hyperemesis.org/donate. \n  \n“The adverse health consequences for mother and child\, as well as the costs of healthcare and lost productivity affect families\, the community\, and the nation. These patients and their children deserve excellent care and a chance at a healthy future.” ~ Kimber MacGibbon\, RN\, MS \n  \n\n*Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) is a debilitating and potentially life-threatening pregnancy disease marked by rapid weight loss\, malnutrition\, and dehydration due to unrelenting nausea and/or vomiting with potential adverse consequences for the mom-to-be and the newborn(s).

SUMMARY:Maternal Sepsis Week
DESCRIPTION:Maternal Sepsis Week: Knowledge Is Power \nThis week is Maternal Sepsis Week\, a time to share helpful\, empowering information that can support those who have experienced Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG). \nSepsis is a complication that can arise from infection. For those with HG\, the need for IV treatments\, hospital care\, or nutritional support may slightly increase the risk\, which is why awareness and early recognition are so important. \nThe good news is that with the right care\, sepsis is often preventable and treatable. Knowing what to look for\, like a fever\, unusual tiredness\, fast heartbeat\, confusion\, or ongoing pain\, helps ensure that concerns are taken seriously and addressed quickly. \nThis week is about more than just raising awareness. It is about moving toward better care. It is about listening to mothers\, taking symptoms seriously\, and making sure no one feels overlooked or alone. \nEveryone deserves to feel safe\, supported\, and informed before\, during\, and after pregnancy. \nTake Action:\nLearn the signs. Spread the word. Support a friend. The HER Foundation’s website provides access to trusted resources\, patient stories\, and ways to advocate for better maternal care. Together\, we can protect and empower mothers. \nLearn more \nSigns of sepsis

SUMMARY:Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) Awareness Day
DESCRIPTION:Today is Hyperemesis Gravidarum (HG) Awareness Day\, a powerful moment in HG Awareness Month to reflect on how far we’ve come and how far we still need to go. \nHG is not just severe morning sickness. It is a serious\, life-altering complication of pregnancy that can lead to malnutrition\, dehydration\, weight loss\, and trauma. For far too long\, HG has been misunderstood\, minimized\, or dismissed entirely. But that is changing—because of you. \nIn 2025\, the HER Foundation’s theme is Progress. Every story shared\, every patient supported\, and every healthcare provider educated brings us one step closer to a world where HG is recognized\, treated earlier\, and approached with compassion and urgency. \nWe are making progress\, but we cannot stop now. \nLearn more about how we are driving change this May and how you can be part of it: \nVisit our HGAM 2025 Media Center. \nYour voice matters. Your advocacy matters. Together\, we are shining a light on HG—not just for awareness\, but for action. \nJoin us this HG Awareness Day as we honor those who have suffered\, support those still in the fight\, and push for a future where HG no longer steals the joy from pregnancy.
