Finally done!

Postby Pamcakes » Sep 28, 2012 1:32 pm

My baby girl was born on September 17th.

We had planned to induce earlier, but an amnio showed she needed a bit longer inside. So we waited until 39 weeks. On Monday September 17th, I went in to be induced. My OB was staffing the birth center that day, so she was able to start the induction, follow us during the day, deliver our baby, schedule an OR room, and give me a tubal all in the same day (my ideal scenario).

I was already 4 cm dilated and 75 percent effaced, so it was a pretty easy induction. They started pitocin and broke my water. By 1:25, I was 7 cm dilated and 100 percent effaced. Since my first daughter's delivery went really fast after getting to 7 cm, we were all ready for a second fast one. Sure enough, 10 minutes later, I was fully dilated and started pushing. Madeleine Grace was born at 1:44, weighing 6 pounds, 0.3 ounces. The unrelenting nausea, reflux, and horrible taste were gone almost immediately. Madeleine and I were able to have a couple of hours of skin to skin time while we waited for an OR. They used the same epidural for my delivery and my tubal, and by 6:00 pm I was back in a hospital room holding our beautiful baby. She is perfect and sweet and calm. But I'm done with hyperemesis, PICCs, TPN, and risking my life. Maybe we'll adopt someday, but for now we're moving on and raising our two beautiful girls.

Hang in there, all of you HGing moms. I know it feels like forever, but someday (soon) you'll be done and holding your beautiful baby.

Life is good - again.

Congratulations Pamela! I'm so glad that it's all over for you, and you have your beautiful girls to snuggle with. I feel the same way about 'moving on', and I too have my two girls to hold tight now. I hope your recovery goes smoothly, and that you feel back to yourself in no time! Best to your family!...and that's a beautiful name too by the way...
