Our little girl is here!

Postby katekate » May 26, 2011 12:29 pm

It looks like May 17th was a busy day for us HGers... my little girl was also born on the 17th at 01.09 (GMT) weighing 7lb 14oz. The relief that she had arrived safe and sound was overwhelming after what seems like such a long journey to start our little family.

The birth was pretty difficult (27 hours, failure to progress, augmentation with oxytocin - after an hour of pushing I was so close to getting her out but she had her hand up against the top of her head and started to show some distress so we ended up with an episiotomy and ventouse) but as you'll all know it was nowhere near as bad as months of HG! It was all totally worth it.

She gave us a big surprise as I had convinced myself and my husband that I was carrying a little boy and lots of other people also thought I was having a little boy. But what a wonderful surprise it was - we were completely elated and have fallen head over heels in love.

We have named her Anna Josephine ("Annie"). Josephine is after my grandma and my husband's grandpas but also has a special meaning to us after we lost our first baby last year- "God will provide a second child".

Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed to this forum with advice and a sympathetic ear - I honestly didn't think I'd ever be able to have a baby after my first HG pregnancy but finding you guys on this forum and my husband's wonderful care of me with my first round of HG gave me the strength to go through it all again - I'm so grateful to you all and I'm so glad I've got my baby girl.

Once I've got the hang of being a mummy and have a few moments to spare (!) I hope I can continue to post and try and help some other HGers who are struggling through.

Thank you all,

Kate x x x
