he is kinda blonde, lol! he's 3lbs 2oz now. it'll be awhile before we can bring him home. they said he has to be 4 lbs, able to keep himself warm and breathe ok on his own, and be able to take his feedings well. his breathing still fluctuates a lot, it's generally okay but sometimes it's way too fast. he is getting his feedings through a tube in his nose right now but he'll need to be able to take a bottle before he can come home.

i got to hold him again last night. when i got home from the hospital i cried and cried...i hate having to leave him there. i know he needs to be there and they are taking good care of him...i just hate it.

i want to change my meds to something with a generic because they are so expensive but i know that's not my OB's job to deal with...i need a regular doctor. i don't think i even have insurance right now because of the long term disability. if i can't change the meds i need to at least get a dose increase because i am having a terrible time. i cry a LOT and i'm very anxious. :/

Nikki--your hormones are all over the place probably since giving birth and that can cause mood changes. Also, because you've had issues with anxiety (and depression??) in the past, I'd suggest asking your OB about the possibility of you having a mild Postpartum Depression. PPD can be well-treated with meds and therapy but your OB might need to adjust your meds. Keep talking about it so you can get some relief.

I really hope your little one keeps getting stronger and he can come home with you really soon!! (((hugs)))

i cried ALL DAY LONG today. hubby called my ob and she said to go to the ER. i have to call tomorrow to try to see a psych there. they gave me an ativan.

right now i can't even think about the baby without crying...so now i feel like i can't even go see him or i'll get upset. :/ i'm a mess and i'm scared to be honest.

i got to hold nathan for the 3rd time tonight! i'm feeling better today, i haven't cried at all which is good. hoping my new meds will help the PPD.

i wrote out thank-out cards today for my doctor and the nurses that took care of me at the hospital. they were so great. i have another one to do for the NICU nurses too.

That's so great you got to hold him and that your feeling better. Its no fun crying and feeling low at all.

Its a very sweet gesture of you to write thank you notes. Very thoughtful of you. :)

nathan is now almost 4 months old (2 months adjusted) and here he is NOW!

Image

can you believe it? he's doing amazing and his only issue is reflux. we have 'early childhood intervention' workers that come several times a month to work with him to make sure his development is on track and a physical therapist comes as part of the program, which is great.

i'm so proud of him!
