nathan nicholas, 3/10/11

Postby nikkibee » Mar 17, 2011 4:32 pm

my little boy nathan nicholas was born 3/10/11 via c-section at 32 weeks. we had some pre-eclampsia/PIH issues and they tried to induce me with pitocin but i did not have a single contraction. i still don't know what a contraction feels like! i had no labor at all. i'm home from the hospital as of tuesday and working on recovering from my c-section. nathan was 2 lbs 15 oz at birth and is now 3 lbs 1 oz, we are not sure how long he will be in NICU but it will be a few weeks at least. he is doing great!

He is absolutely amazing! He looks so teeny tiny and itty bitty with that soothie in the second photo... So very sweet! I'm glad you are both okay -- I hope recovery goes well.

All the best to the new family!

i don't feel 'normal' yet, but i don't think it's HG related. i think it's just recovering from the c-section that's taking a lot out of me. i've been kind of nauseous but i think it's from the headaches i've been having. they are nowhere NEAR what i had with the PIH right before delivery (worst headache of my life, the doctor was worried about seizures and even stroke, which is why we delivered when we did) but they are pretty annoying.

mostly i just feel sick after i get up and do a lot, i had my first shower since october when i got my PICC line and it was EXHAUSTING! fabulous, though, it felt sooo good. i feel sick after i get home from visiting the hospital too. i'm doing as much as i can which is what the doctor wants, and resting a lot too so i don't overdo it.

yeah it will definitely take some time to get your stamina back up. I noticed that after Ryan and everything. You have not only the birth to recover from but the toll that HG has caused to your body.

I just love looking at his little hand on the paci

he's doing very well from what they tell us. he's breathing on his own and mostly tolerating his feedings well. i'm feeling very sick today so i didn't go to the hospital, which i feel bad about, but my husband just left to see him and my mom is meeting him there.

i feel guilty whenever i don't go, but my husband will usually go without me so at least one of us is seeing him. and luckily the milk i pumped is getting delivered so he'll have that. HOPEFULLY hubby will remember to pick up more bottles from there since i only have one left!

thank you all SO much for your kind words and comments! it's so wonderful that complete strangers can bond with each other on a forum like this because of similar experiences. i am a member of a pre-eclampsia forum as well as this one, and i don't think i could have made it through this pregnancy and kept my sanity without both of these sites! i never expected to get such amazing, sincere support from people i didn't even know, but that is what i have experienced on both sites and i am incredibly grateful.

i am looking forward to hopefully helping other people through their experiences with HG and PIH/pre-e now that i have gone through them. i have had such a wonderful experience receiving support so far, and i've gotten even more from fellow NICU and preemie moms. it's a great addition to the support i'm getting from my family and friends offline, especially since most of them have not experienced all the same things.

the internet is a wonderful place sometimes!

Congratulations! He's beautiful. What a great name, too!

I haven't been on the board much (3 month old and a new job), so I was surprised to see this announcement so soon! I'm glad he's here and doing well.

You will recover and feel well soon. It will just take some time. Don't feel guilty if you don't get a chance to visit. He's in good hands and you have to heal yourself.

What a tiny miracle. :)
