Sophia Ann is here!

Postby desertsailor » Feb 09, 2011 8:03 pm

we finally got our computer back from getting debugged so I figured I'd update. Sophia Ann is finally here! I had a midwife appt early last week on the 1st and started early labor the day after on the 2nd, so we went to the birth center thinking it was real, but wasn't progressing enough so got sent home for the night. Went back in the morning when the contractions got stronger and ended up laboring there until early evening but had stalled at 6cm. We ended up going across to the hospital and got an epidural which I never thought I'd do but 3 days of pain and no sleep was getting to me. After 5 hours, I made it another cm to 7 but then Sophie turned a weird way and I went back to 6. Didn't even know that could happen. The midwife advised some Pitocin since I had been stalled for so long and even that didn't do anything to jumpstart labor and I started to run a 102 fever and was shivering and sweating pretty bad, so got told that I was advised to have a C section which I said ok to. Unfortunately that night was a record setting cold night with hard freeze warnings for my area and a lot of water pipes had burst, flooding some buildings, so we got put in a borrowed operating room that N couldn't be in with me. The midwife was great about taking a ton of pictures though so he at least got to see her birth in pictures. We had to stay in the hospital for 3 days which really annoyed me but it was great having access to the lactation consultants for so long. Anyway, she was born on Feb 4th at 1:06am, 7lbs 6oz and 20.5 in long. She was born with lots of dark brown hair like I had at birth and her Daddy's hazel eyes. She's very mellow most of the time but when she gets frustrated she can be very loud. I'm so totally in love with her more every day. (And so very glad to not be pregnant anymore!)

Getting weighed after birth:

Dressed for newborn pictures and totally not amused lol

With Daddy in the hospital room:
Adrian my December angel lost 4/26/07 @ 6w4d Severe HG
Austin my June angel lost 12/2/09 @ 12w2d Severe HG
Caitlyn my August angel lost 1/23/13 @ 9w2d Severe HG
My Sophie, born healthy with Zofran, potassium infusions, 4 months of iv's and lots of hope

Hoping for the baby that will make our family complete.
