Kendall Grace is here!

Postby Cori » Jan 24, 2011 9:27 am

Our computer is finally up and running after not working for the past month... so I can finally share that Kendall Grace was born on 1/3/11! (2 weeks early, thank God) I woke up at 2:00am to go to the bathroom and on my way back to bed my water broke. I had been diagnosed with polyhydroamnios, which is excess amniotic fluid, and was told that if my water broke it would be like opening the flood gates... so true. We got to the hospital at 3:30am and by then I was having pretty strong contractions and was at 4cm. I got my epidural but it didn't take. I was 7cm when they finally decided to re-do the epidural. The second one they put in went in a blood vessel so they had to take it out and put in a 3rd epidural. That one took beautifully (luckily) and shortly after getting it I was ready to push. Only about 3 pushes and Kendall was born. She weighed 8lbs 13oz and was 22in... such a big girl! My first was only 7lbs! Because of my excess fluid and the fact that I didn't push for very long, she still had fluid in her lungs and was having a little trouble breathing. They took her to the nursery for a few hours and then I finally got to see her. She is perfect and beautiful and so worth the HG nightmare I went through. I am feeling amazing and so happy the HG is over. Thank you to all of you for your support... I never would have made it through without this site.
